~ The Cost of Beauty
This work is a social commentary on the consumerist culture of the Asian beauty market. Corporations have increasingly capitalized on Asian beauty standards. “The Cost of Beauty” addresses the effects of commercialization on adolescents' self-esteem. The exploitation of young girls for their appearance in mainstream media is a kind of “death." The acrylic painting uses real physical products glued on.
