~ Hate Crime
Hate Crime is a work created in response to the increase in Asian American hate crimes that occured during 2020 and 2021. Outraged by the proliferation of crime towards Asian Americans due to the pandemic, I painted these two panels to express my outlook on the situation. I wanted to experiment with design in a more tangible medium, like acrylic paint, while still maintaning the integrity of geometry. By implementing simple, yet recognizable, shapes, I worked to establish symbolism in my work, and emphasize the clean, and seemingly, unspoken violence of those affected by hate crime.
